Here’s The One Thing: The community organizer in chief is transforming us, but why isn’t anyone noticing?

I had some people at the house over the weekend. We were all looking at this online visual psychology test. (I know, weekends with me are just wicked awesome: Psychology tests and books on progressivism — want to come over?)
But I want to show you something: Look at this and tell me what’s changing in this picture. It’s from the University of South Dakota Department of Psychology’s Web site.
This test was based on a scientific theory called “change blindness”; a theory that I think might help explain what’s happening in our country right now.
In visual perception, “change blindness” is the phenomenon that occurs when a person viewing a visual scene apparently fails to detect large changes in the scene, because there are a lot of things going on.
If you got it: Great, you are a smarty-smart pants — quit showing off. For those who didn’t, the answer is the massive jet engine that’s flashing right before your very eyes. Only about two out of the 10 people at my house got it — once you know what it is, it’s so obvious.
This is exactly what’s happening in America: The system is being overwhelmed. We’re rushing massive programs and policies through at an astounding rate and we’re failing to see the engine coming off the plane because Obama’s using something called — honest to God — “change blindness.”
All the rushing of change, even though he said this in 2004:

BARACK OBAMA: When you rush these budgets that are a foot-high and nobody has any idea what’s in them and nobody has read them…
RANDI RHODES, FORMER AIR AMERICA RADIO HOST: Fourteen pounds it was.
OBAMA: Yes, and it gets rushed through without any clear deliberations or debate. Then, these kinds of things happen, and I think this is in some ways what happened to the Patriot Act. I mean, you remember there was no real debate about that. It was so quick after 9/11 that it was introduced that people felt very intimidated by the administration.

But now, in 2009, it’s totally cool to jam through a $787 billion stimulus bill, a massive expansion of children’s health care, a cap-and-trade energy bill and, oh yeah, a complete overhaul of the entire health care industry in the first six months.
And while the president is filling up America’s scene with these huge thousand-page bills, he gets cover from friends like House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers who said, with a straight face:

REP. JOHN CONYERS, D-MICH.: I love these members, they get up and say, “Read the bill.” What good is reading the bill if it’s 1,000 pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?

We, rightfully so, become outraged and try to (I know, this is crazy) get our elected officials to read bills before they vote on them.
But, maybe that’s what they want us to focus on, because while we are complaining about that, and the millions government spends on bridges for turtles and toilet restorations, none of that is as important as the fundamental changes currently being made to how our country works.
Don’t you see? This isn’t about just health care; it’s about who’s behind it.
Look, if a doctor is selling medicine to grandma, wouldn’t you like to know if that doctor is Dr. Huxtable or Dr. Kevorkian? Kind of makes a difference, doesn’t it? Just ask Michael Jackson.
This isn’t about a slight change of paint color; it’s about an engine completely disappearing. America’s engine is being completely removed right before our eyes.
America once had this crazy concept of elected officials doing things “for the people.” Now it seems our elected officials are busy doing things to the people; puppets for powerful global corporations, unions like SEIU and community organizations like ACORN:

OBAMA: Before I even get inaugurated — during the transition — we’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We’re going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.

All I’m asking for is that you ask officials the tough questions. Who’s running the show? Is it the “all-knowing Messiah,” Barack Obama? Or is it special interest groups, like the SEIU and ACORN pushing their agenda?
Warning: Once you see the picture of what they are doing — just like the jet engine — you won’t believe how you missed it. You’ll also have sleepless nights wondering how everyone else has “change blindness” and can’t see it.
